I Might Not Go Dove Hunting This Year
After the recent storms I decided to run out to check on the buildings on some of our properties out in the east part of the county. Along the way I drove through several areas scouting for dove for the upcoming season opener. Mid day and early afternoon I saw NONE. Zero. Zip. Nada. Most times you usually see a few. One here and there, but NOPE. As I got further away from town I spotted a few, but darned few. Finally in late afternoon I saw some flying. Not enough to get excited about, and an awfully long way out of town. If I did go out there for the season opener I’d take heavy loads because those I saw were all on the move. Like birds late to run from the monsoon storms we had.
I did stop once it wet a line along the way, and spotted a few fish. I didn’t spend much time at it. Literally just Five Minutes on the Water. I did stick one on a 4inch Club-O, and I bet I could have caught a few more by rotating through a couple different colors, but I had other things to do.
