What Was The Weirdest thing YOU Ever Had Happen While Fishing.
Mine was more fishing adjacent than fishing, but close enough.
For 8 years I ran a Pro Am (Yuma Pro Am – draw team format) tournament series. We would meet up the night before, sign up and draw for partners. There was no last minute sign up because there was no way to make that work. You could call me to get your name in if you couldn’t make the draw meeting and pay in the morning.

On day as we were doing our weigh in this guy walked up and wanted to weigh his fish, and find out if he won. He laid out a whole bullshit story about how he arrived early and paid his entry and demanded to weigh his fish because he was sure he won. It was a whole bullshit deal for a solid 10 minutes, and finally he went away. For a minute he was so aggressive about it I was afraid it might come to blows. When I stood up his “friends’ finally managed to get him to walk away.
I also used to run a fishing web forum called YumaBassMan. That evening after I wrote up the tournament results and made a fishing report about the day including the weird interaction, somebody brand new posted a reply. “That was the first time that guy came to the river with us, and it will be the last. Sorry Bob.”

Another time as a young teen we were fishing the kelp off the beach out of Long Beach and I got sea sick. I felt miserable the whole time. I just laid out across the engine cover and baked in the sun. That felt the least bad. Every once in a while I would roll over and puke off the side, and every once in a while I would set the hook and reel in a fish. My dad was kinda peeved about it. At one point he commented that I was catching all the fish because I was chumming. I easily got more fish than everybody else in the boat combined.
