I have been looking at Jeeps. I didn’t really want a fancy one with lots of features. I had half a dozen picked out shopping on line to go look at. Friday I suggested to my wife we go over to the local dealership to see if she could climb in one before I buy another one.
Side story: She ordered a new Tesla AWD long range that was supposed to arrive in August. She turned in her Kia Nero lease, expecting to have her new Tesla in a few days. In the mean time she was going to drive a Nissan Altima that fell onto us after my dad passed away. I figured after the Tesla got here I would trade in the Nissan. The Tesla is now estimated to arrive sometime in December, but its still “estimated,” so when it might arrive is purely speculation.
My wife has been driving the Nissan far longer than she planned. It’s not a bad car with plenty of fancy modern features, but on any given day if you ask here its 50:50 that its “okay / not that bad” or she just hates it. Saturday while I was working on personal projects, she texted me and asked if I wanted to go to the dealer and look at some Jeeps. I had absolutely no intention of buying a Jeep locally. I just wanted to see if she could get in and out easier than she can with my truck. For the foreseeable future I get to drive “our” new jeep on Sundays. She has started buying accessories for it, and she ordered me to put a set of electric running boards on it like those I put on the truck.

I did take it out Sunday in the rain and get it muddy.
I almost order a set of electric running boards (wife requested them) from Rough Country for the new JLU. I have Amp Research boards from Real Truck on my F250FX4, and they have worked great for two years so far, but I was hoping to save a couple bucks. Here is the thing. The Rough Country website had some weird third party service that wanted to store my credit card information at the front end of the check out, it wouldn’t accept my name spelled properly (with a space), and I already have Amp Research boards and they work fine on my truck.
Anybody else weirded out by the way the Rough Country website deals with the credit card on the upfront side or am I just paranoid after 30 years on the Internet.
Anyway, the new Amp Research boars arrive Thursday.
On the truck:
I asked my wife this morning if I should start looking for another Jeep for myself, and she gave me a tiny smile and said, “Maybe.” I think she may be a Jeep girl now.
