Beyond Braid Is Good Again
First off I am only talking about the Beyond Braid 8X. I have not tried any of their other formulations. If you have seen me post pictures of any fish here or on social media this year its most likely it was caught on Beyond Braid 8X. I do still have a few rods spooled with MaxCuatro, but all my newer stuff is 8X.
A while back after getting excited by a relatively new product, and then trashed it because I was having tons of line breaks for now good reason, and it even cost me a big fish on the canal bank one day. I WAS WRONG.

I discovered a couple brand new rods I was using had bad tip tops. There were tiny cracks in the ceramic that were hardly visible. I had to look at them under magnification to spot them. I didn’t realize it until I started having random reasonless line breaks with MaxCuatro. I was thinking bad line, the heat in my shop. Something. I never even considered bad tip tops on multiple brand new rods.
After throwing away a small fortune in Beyond Braid 8X I bought some more… of all the same sizes. I’ve been using the stuff for quite a while now and I am ready to say I was wrong.
No. It’s not as good as MaxCuatro, but at a very small fraction of the price its more than good enough.

10:10 Price 1/3 the price of MaxCuatro (in large bulk spools)
8:10 Diameter almost as thin, and thinner than almost all other braids.
11:10 Very limp. Maybe better than MaxCuatro
7:10 Line strength and knot strength.
As long as the price doesn’t climb, the quality doesn’t drop, and they don’t stop making it the stuff is going to be my braid of choice.
Line strength is not quite up to its rating in my opinion, but its good enough. I can live with it because its pretty consistent. Knot strength is the same, with it tending to break after fewer hard retrievals (pulling it off of tulies and cane instead of going to get it) but again, good enough. I use 15 and 20 lb all the time and I swing fish with it without a second thought. I also have some heavier line for other applications.

Yes, I still have a few rods spooled with mono, but when it comes to fluorocarbon I just haven’t found the replacement for CarbonPro I’ve been looking for all these years.
