You PROBABLY Won’t Get One
I have a few mold designs ready to cut, and I have a constant backlog of custom work, but I DO NOT have one of everything sitting on the shelf. In fact, except for my personal molds that are not for sale I don’t keep a lot of anything sitting on the shelf hoping somebody will buy it. I never know what is going to sell next. Sometimes I’ll get a run on one thing, and somethings I won’t sell any of for a year. It’s just unreasonable and expensive to make a couple of everything just in case.
On my website it says at the top above the fold in the very front page… All Molds Are Cut To Order.
If you are one of those people who will only ever buy a mold from me if it’s sitting there just waiting on you to get it instantly, you will probably never get one. Yes, I occasionally make an extra. Usually, it’s because it’s one that I make 2 or 3 at a time, and it’s just easier to cut a run when somebody places an order, instead of changing the job to just cut one. DO NOT COUNT ON IT. Most jobs I do have setup to cut just one, because I need to get onto the next job more than I need to have a spare unsold on the shelf.
100% of the time the fastest way to get a mold I make is to order it. If one of those extremely rare times when there is one on the shelf, I’ll ship it in a day or two. If it’s not on the shelf the fastest way to get it is still to just order it. I’m not going to make one until somebody orders one. When you order one, I’ll make one, and get it shipped as soon as it is done. If you wait to order, then it it’s just all that much longer before I make one.
I have a lot of stock designs, and I want to add a lot more. I would tie up tens of thousands of dollars of material and multiple tens of thousands of dollars of time if I tried to have a couple of everything on the shelf just in case you decide to buy one. 100% of the time to the fastest way to get it is to order it.
