We Got An 8 1/2 – AND – The Bait We Got It On
We made it out Sunday afternoon for a couple hours. It was nothing on fire, but I had a nice one jump and throw a commercial crankbait. My partner caught 3 or 4 small ones on a couple different baits, and I finally landed our big bass of the afternoon. A solid 14 1/2 inches long on the same commercial crankbait I was using earlier. There were more people out on that little back water than I have seen in a long time. Parking was very tight where we launched and there were more boats, and kayaks out there than that. Must have launched at other launch points. We chose not to fish a couple spots, but we were still never crowded. When we loaded up we talked to some guys who had launched a pontoon boat there. I didn’t think there was enough water for that, but they claimed they had no issues. They showed us a picture of a 4+ pound largemouth, and mentioned they caught a couple nice stripers.
Other than the other end of the fender (yes, the one I fixed, but the other end) on my buddy’s boat trailer broke off and we had to tie it up with bungee cords, it was pleasant and largely uneventful trip out for a piece of the afternoon. Well, the mosquitos did qet pretty bad after sunset. Not something I am used to experiencing in February, but they were out. Maybe not max force, but force enough I went diving for the bug spray.
Oh, you all only tuned in to hear about the 8 1/2 and to glean what bait we caught it on?
Here you go.
