Just Stuff – Busy These Days

I’ve been putting extra stuff up for sale on line.  Bauer SDS MAX rotary hammer from my dad’s stuff sold for a fair price.  Lots of people wanted it, “screw you cheap,” but a local handyman was happy to get it for the price I was asking.  I have a heavier Milwaukee spline drive, and a lighter Makita SDS plus for my own rotary hammer needs.  There is also a Bosch Bulldog in my dad’s stuff, but I haven’t figured out the asking price on it yet.

The “no name” mill drill has been up for a little while and I have had a few low ballers ask about it (screw you lowballers), but I recently had somebody make a fair offer.  The thing is he lives 180 miles away in a much larger city/metro.  Doesn’t make any sense to me.  I’m sure he can find something there that would cost less than the price of this one plus fuel and time to come get it.  If he shows up with a fist full of money (by appointment only) I won’t send him away.

Just sold the 2000 Ranger pickup a couple days ago.  Had a couple low ballers of course, but sun damage, cracked windshield, a bullet hole in a rear wing door, and no idea where the transmission is I didn’t expect much.  I had six people asking about it, abnd one guy trying to sell me a Ranger with a blown engine to use the transmission in the one I was sell.  One guy made a fair offer and brought me cash the same day I listed it.  Trucks sell fast if you ask a fair price it seems.  This is the 4th truck I have sold online in the last year or year and a half. Fortunately, two of them were in my mom’s name so I don’t need to run out and get a broker’s license just yet.

I finished a mold for a customer last weekend and forgot to test it before I shipped it.  I was a little worried about it, but the customer told me it worked perfectly first try, so that’s a relief.  I have another mold designed for him ready to go on the machine, but we’ve been having inclement weather off and on.  I don’t like to run my CNC machines if there is risk of power failure or lightning, and I just haven’t felt like it.

Yesterday, swapped the bucket and forks on the tractor a couple times hauling trash out to the dumpster.  A loveseat fits, but a loveseat with drink holders and a center storage compartment has to be stood on end. I guess when I pitch the matching couch I’ll have to spend some time on it with the Sawzall (technically Super Sawzall).

A few weeks ago, the AC on my truck failed on the way back from fishing.

When You Just Have A few Minutes to Fish

I dropped it off at the dealer the following Monday.  I’ve been without a truck for almost two weeks, and NO, the dealer did not give me a loaner even though it was a warranty repair.  Recall actually.

Nothing to make you want to go fishing more than not having your truck to go.

Not Satisfying That Itch

Fortunately, Saturday a buddy of mine texted and invited me out before I lost all my sanity and ordered a bag of minnows to put in the bathtub.

Saturday Afternoon on the River (9/13/2025)

I got a text this morning letting me know me truck was fixed.  Not only was it warranty it turns out Ford FINALLY did the right thing and issued a recall on the AC.  Trucks from the Kentucky truck plant air conditioners have been failing left and right since early 2024.  Last time I looked there was no recall shown on my truck, but the service writer said when they looked it up there was a recall.

I have a soft spot (maybe in my head) for H&R firearms.  I’ve kinda wanted a .223 Handi Rifle for a while.  I’ve got some other H&R stuff, and except for some pre-1900 proverbial “2 dollar pistols” I have fun shooting the stuff.  I found one on Gunbroker and for the first time in a long time nobody outbid me at the last second.  Since its not 50 years old I couldn’t have it shipped direct on my 03 collector license.  I had it shipped to Ken at Fiveshot Firearms.  He’s good and does transfers cheap.  While I was there somebody was disposing of some guns from an estate.  There was a Savage 311 12ga double in mediocre condition.  Ken didn’t act like he really wanted it.  I asked, and he said not really. I made an offer, paid the fees, finished the transfers, and left with two guns instead of one.

.223 Double Barrel Shotgun (It will make sense in a minute)

Not sure how I’ll spend the rest oy my day.  Was planning to replace the seat on my tractor, and maybe start working on a little Honda twin 200cc I thought might be fun to turn into a scrambler, but now I’m torn between taking the new bang sticks to the range IN MY TRUCK WITH WORKING AIR CONDITIONING, or maybe grabbing a couple fishing rods and hitting the canal bank IN MY TRUCK WITH WORKING AIR CONDITIONING.
