Not Satisfying That Itch
As some of you might know I don’t take one of my boats out that often anymore. I just have to much work to do, taking care of customers, family, and yes, still my dad’s estate. Often I satisfy that itch by tossing a couple rods in the back of the truck, grabbing a tackle bag with whatever was in it last, and hitting the canal bank. I was out a week ago yesterday (on a Thursday) and caught a few, and broke one off. I only fished one spot on the canal bank, but it was fun. It made for an episode of Five Minutes on The Water. When You Just Have a Few Minutes to Fish. I didn’t plan to make a video, but I set up my cell phone to record before I waded out in the much to recover a fish wrapped up around a branch.
On the way home the air conditioning quit, and started working, and quit again. I’ve had a few times in the last couple months when it took a while to start cooling, but This was the first time it quit on me. Friday I took the truck to run some errands and then I was going to head over to the dealership. After running all over town with no AC, when I finally headed towards the dealership it started working again. I just went home. I didn’t want to deal with that.
For those who don’t know there were a BUNCH of Ford trucks that came out of Kentuckey truck plant with bad/defective AC units that self destruct. Not all, but a lot. For a short time I think every single truck got one f those bad AC compressors. When they go, they dump garbage throughout the system so its a lot more work than swapping the compressor and recharging the system. Other parts need to be replaced as well.
Monday, I spent 20 minutes idling in my driveway and the AC never started cooling so I headed over to the dealership. Of course, it started working again just before I got there. They DID NOT offer me a loaner vehicle even though it’s a warranty repair, and every other owner I have spoken to said they got a loaner when their truck was in for warranty repairs. When I asked, I was told they didn’t have any. I had to call for an update, and they said it was working at first, but it did cut out while they were checking it and its one of the bad compressors. It will be repaired under warranty, but it will take a couple weeks to get all the parts from Ford. Confirmed warranty and still no loaner, but they gave some lip service to “trying to get you one.” Yeah right.
So, I am without a tow vehicle or even a bank running vehicle and I have the itch to go fishing like crazy. My son got the Kona when his Malibu died on him, and I don’t really consider the Nissan mine. It was my dad’s and I keep it for running my mom around to her various appointments. It’s also not a vehicle I would feel comfortable running up and down the canal with. It would do it, but it would might be hard on it.
So, for now, unless somebody invites me out, I won’t be scratching that itch for at least a couple weeks, and that’s if the dealership doesn’t work on “more important” people’s stuff first. I think they already made it clear I wasn’t one of the more important people.
There is nothing to make you want to go fishing more than not being able to.
