Bob’s Tips for Anglers #2 – Don’t Over Complicate Going Fishing (Don’t Plan It To Death)
Recap First:
Tip #0 – Don’t let other people measure you.
Tip #1 – Go when you can.
Bob’s Tips for Anglers #2 – Don’t Over Complicate Going Fishing
This officially displaces whatever the previous tip #2 was. This has got to be more important than that.
The former #2 was If Something Doesn’t Seem Right CHECK IT! I looked it up online. It’s amazing how much old stuff deleted from the original website is still out there. I found it with a Bing search. It’s still an important Bob’s Tip For Anglers, but it’s no longer #2. We’ll pick a new number when I rewrite it. FYI: The Microsquish AI applied an interpretation of the tip when I searched for it. It’s now #3. Turns out I had already rewritten it and added it to the current iteration of YumaBassMan.com
If you are planning the vacation of a lifetime, to fish for Crystaline Emerald Scaled Venusian Flying Cloud Bass, a little extra effort might be required so the Venusian atmosphere doesn’t make you dead, but an afternoon trip to the local, pond, lake, canal, stream doesn’t have to be that big of a deal. Grab a few rods, your cell phone, some water and go. It can be simpler than that. I keep two rods behind the seat in my truck, and a tiny little tackle tray underneath. I can, AND DO, just pull over along a canal on my way to or from somewhere to go fishing. I wouldn’t say I’ve slayed them doing that, but I caught fish and sometimes it was just enough to change my souring outlook on life and other people.
I’ve got a buddy who has to plan an outing to death. He makes an appointment to get together and compare calendars to schedule fishing trips a month out. The last time we planned three fishing trips and a trip to the shooting range and canceled all of them. You know the day he made the appointment to schedule the fishing trips? We could have just grabbed a couple rods and gone fishing. He was available. I was available. Don’t over complicate it. I got pretty frustrated with him and told him to just call me anytime he CAN go fishing and unless I am locked into something that has to be done right now I’ll drop whatever I am doing, and we can go. He said, “Okay we can try that,” and then he then tried to make an appointment to spend an afternoon comparing calendars to scheduling appointments to fish over the following month.
Yes, you know who you are. Yes, I am picking on you. I’d rather spend that afternoon fishing. I like your company well enough, but why can’t we just go fishing.
LOL. I told him we could go back to making appointments and cancelling them AFTER he has called me and we “just went” once or twice. He’s called me twice since then to make an appointment to meet and make appointments. I’m picking on him, but I’m not kidding.
It doesn’t have to be a big deal to just go fishing. Just go.
I’m not saying you can’t do some planning either. Just don’t make it a chore just to go.
