River Report (Sorta) 10/26/2025
Made it out yesterday for a few hours before dark. Maybe 2:30 int he afternoon to about 6:00 or so. The section of river we fished isn’t one a lot of you guys fish, but this may help. At the ramp we chatted with one guy coming in. He said he had been out all day and hadn’t caught anything.
The water was low, but we managed to launch and make it out from our favorite ramp. It was shallow enough my buddy couldn’t get his boat on plane to get out to the main river so we fished our way out the channel. I only got one bite in the channel near the river as it got a little deeper. It was our big fish of the day at about 2 pounds. I had been throwing a Square Back Minnow, but I’d just switched to a Club-O. Shortly after that we talked to another angler who said they had been out since first light, and had just caught their first fish.
We ground it out for a while. Flipping, cranking, hard jerks, soft jerks, etc. I missed two flipping an experimental bait I probably won’t release a mold for in its current form. It catches fish, but it doesn’t inject as well as I would like. Finally, I stuck another one about 1-1/2 on a different color Club-O. I had a couple “dinks got the tail” hits after that, but that was it for me.
My partner finally stuck two throwing his favorite popper well after sunset, but not dark yet. The bigger one might have been as big as my smaller one.
We headed in.
