Skunked! but it sure beats work!!

Postby BlueDodgeGuy » Tue Feb 02, 2010 3:13 pm

Hi everyone... Wanted to share that I went out to Mittry on Friday for about 4 solid hours and got skunked; not even a nibble.. But I was not at work and I am quite ok with it. It definitely gave me a chance to soak in the awesomeness of just being out there (peace and quiet). I tried several baits from plastics to cranks, and "nada", nothing, zilch.. Hopefully the warmer temps coming soon will help???

The only time I have caught anything out of mittry was a small mouth "little guy" at the launch ramp dock while waiting for my buddy to go to the bathroom after we had already been on the water for about 3 hours without a bite!!.. Caught it on an old silver Mr. Twister running the edge of the doc!! LoL Gonna head up to Meer's Point this weekend and try my luck. That is the only other spot I have had any luck so far worth mentioning.. Good Luck!!

Thanks and good luck,
I just purchased an old 15 ft beater I found on craigslist.. It is a 1985 skeeter flatbottom, with a 50hp merc and a minnekota troller both solid and running. live well and bilge systems work great. I just put in yuma marine, inc to get it checked over and get an impeller and fluid change.. It needs a little work but will be worth it.. Thanks for the posts and good luck to you too!!!

I found it on Craigslist for $1000... I then took it to Yuma Marine and had them look at motor.. replaced fluids and waterpump and is working great!! Just gotta be patient and you will find what is in your range.. Just make sure to have the $$$ when you are looking because its always first come first serve.. I was the first one that showed up with cash in hand.. The seller had 5 others looking at it.. :)

I'm pretty sure I just saw you at Desert Bass this weekend. If that's the case, that's a good lookin boat for $1000. Actually that's a good lookin boat for $3000, great buy. (-ch-)

Biggest Bass - How I Caught It: I caught a 5.50 in Mittry during the first Working Man Tournament 2010. Slowly but surely I'm finding the bigger fish.

Yep, you probaby did, I have been out on the water every weekend since the purchase (Mittry, Meers Point, Fishers, etc). Bob actually saw me at Fishers Landing last week during all the rain and asked if it was me.. He also said it was a great buy and actually took the time to look at my gear and give me some pointers!! Thanks Bob!!!!
