Thanks to you all for your responses, the way I see it is that both negative as well as positive feedback is both useful information!!

I do own a boat but it is definitely not suited for fishing, I own a 21ft Ski Centurion Wakeboard boat... I have come to realize that I need to get in the backwaters and in around the sunken trees and soforth. With my boat it is near impossible to do that due to its v-hull and direct drive!! lol

Bob La Londe, I am very interested in doing the Yuma Pro Ams... I will see if I can find a scedule of events, I am sure that the local boat shops (i.e., River Marine) have sign up sheets? I know that I am looking towards the bottom of the barrel on looking for a fishing boat but since I just purchased the other one, the wife is tightening the purse so to speak!! haha

Greg G, I want to thank you for your responses, I understand that we don't want every swingin "D" taking over our waters getting all the fish!! In the line of work I do, all info good and bad is definitely a positive thing. I will definitely look at your threads and see what information I can pick from them.

Garry2Rs and bosshogg1000, Thanks for the warm welcome, it is really appreciated and thanks for the tips!! I am looking forward to a great year here in yuma and many more to come after that!!

The schedule is out at River Marine and Sportsmen's Hide-A-Way. It may also be posted a few other places. You can also find it along with all the text of the January newsletter at the link I provided in the previous post. http://www.YumaProAm.com and if you click the calendar button at the top of this page you will see a schedule of fishing events for most of the local organizations.

If you plan to fish Yuma Pro Am I strongly suggest you read the following pages.
Each participant is responsible for knowign the rules and proper etiquette for Yuma Pro Am.

Etiquette:

... AND don't put off getting started or signing up.

Getting started... The Season Kick Off BBQ is January 30th at Sportsmen's Hide-A-Way. There is a steak BBQ, prizes, speakers, etc. It is only once a year the evening before our first tournament of the season and its only open to people who have paid their membership for 2009 or 2010.

Signing Up... I STRONGLY reccomend that people interested in fishing as a non-boater sign up on the Monday when signup opens up. I have had a lot of interest in Yuma Pro Am for 2010 and I have even had a number of folks calling from other states. I guess Yuma Pro Am is a somewhat unique format in the western states. A couple folks have said they may express or overnight their entries from out of town.

Available backseats... is strictly first come first serve. Those who are signed up and their entry is paid FIRST will get drawn if their are more non-boaters than boaters. You may sign up and pay Monday thru Saturday the week before each tournament.

Mailing Entries... Entries may be mailed or sent by carrier, but they may not be postmarked or have a ship date prior to Monday. If mailing in an entry mail it on Monday. It should arrive by Wednesday or Thursday. If you mail it later than Monday I may not get it in time to get you signed up. Your entry will be considered paid when it is received.
